Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections featuring a key between two headlands, a rising sun, and a royal palm tree, surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a staff and flanked by an oak branch on the left and a laurel branch on the right. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering. The denomination 1 PESO appears in the lower field beneath the arms. The design is rendered in crisp relief against a smooth, mirror-like field.
