| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield quartered with a key between two promontories in the base, a royal palm in the middle, and horizontal stripes in the upper portion, surmounted by the Phrygian cap of liberty on a staff and flanked by branches of oak and laurel. A curved legend at the top reads REPUBLICA DE CUBA, while the face value UN PESO appears as a curved legend along the lower periphery, separated by ornamental dots. The design is executed in a formal, heraldic style characteristic of early twentieth-century Latin American coinage. |
