Obverse description Central vignette of the Spanish Royal Arms surmounted by a crown and resting on a globe, set within an elaborate circular guilloche border, printed in dark green and black intaglio. Numeral "1" appears in large format to the left and right of the central vignette, with dense lathe-work panels flanking the composition. The lower portion carries the issue date "HABANA 15 de Mayo de 1896", a red serial number, series letter, and three manuscript signatures below the titles EL CONSEJERO, EL GOBERNADOR, and EL CAJERO.

Reverse description Central oval portrait vignette of Queen Regent María Cristina, shown in three-quarter bust facing slightly left, wearing a tiara and formal dress with lace collar, engraved in fine intaglio against an engine-turned guilloche background. Large numeral "1" counters appear in ornate frames to the left and right of the portrait, all surrounded by intricate lathe-work rosettes, printed throughout in blue. The printer's imprint appears at the foot of the note.
