Reverse description The Coat of Arms of Uruguay is rendered within a finely engraved oval guilloche medallion at centre, printed in blue-grey on an orange underprint and surrounded by dense lathe-work rosettes and floral ornaments in brown and orange tones. The bank title "BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY" encircles the central medallion, with "UNO" and the numeral "1" repeated at the cardinal points. Denomination cartouches reading "UN PESO" appear in the left and right margins, with large mirror-image numeral "1" vignettes anchoring the outer corners.
Reverse lettering 1 UN PESO BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA ORIENTAL UNO 1 UNO DEL URUGUAY
(Translation: Bank of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.)
