Obverse description A Andean condor with wings spread perches in left profile atop a rocky outcrop occupying the central field, rendered in fine naturalistic detail after the style of engraver O. Roty. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE runs along the upper periphery, flanked by a beaded border. The engraver's signature O.ROTY appears in small letters in the lower exergue beneath the rock.
