| Obverse description | The Uruguayan national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered oval shield with a radiant sun rising above it, the rays extending boldly into the upper field. The shield is flanked by laurel branches forming a wreath below, and two flagged staffs cross diagonally behind it on either side. A five-pointed star appears in the lower field beneath the shield. The circular legend REPUBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY runs along the periphery, terminating with an asterisk, all within a beaded border. |
