Obverse description Printed in black on white cotton paper by letterpress, the obverse carries the bold inscription 'EL BANCO de BUENOS AYRES' across the centre, beneath which the promissory text in Spanish sets out the redemption terms. Four small oval portrait medallions are arranged in the left and right margins — a uniformed military bust at upper left and a profile portrait at upper right, with additional oval vignettes below each — flanking a central allegorical vignette of two figures beside the numeral '1' against a landscape background. The denomination 'UN PESO' appears at upper right.

Reverse description The reverse carries no independent printed design; the sheet is plain cotton paper on which a faint offset impression of the obverse vignettes and text is visible as a mirror image, a characteristic show-through consistent with the thin stock and heavy letterpress inking used on early 19th-century South American bank notes.
