Villalgordo del Júcar is a small municipality in Cuenca province, Castilla-La Mancha, and this note is one of thousands of tiny emergency issues that flooded Spain during the Civil War after the Republic's coinage essentially vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply swallowed by wartime disruption. Municipal councils, cooperatives, even individual shops issued their own paper in denominations as low as 5 céntimos to keep local commerce moving.
The Gari Montaner reference places this squarely within that catalogued mass of local Nationalist- and Republican-zone scrip, though Villalgordo itself was a village of fewer than a thousand inhabitants at the time.
