Vilallonga del Camp is a small municipality in the Camp de Tarragona comarca, and like hundreds of similarly sized Catalan towns, its local council issued emergency fractional currency during 1937 when the Republican government's coin supply had effectively collapsed. These municipal notes — collectively catalogued as *moneda de necessitat* — were a grassroots fiscal response, not an authorized monetary policy. The Consell Municipal issued them on its own authority.

Imprenta Solé of Tarragona handled production for numerous surrounding municipalities during this period, which accounts for the visual similarities across several Camp de Tarragona emissions of 1937.
