Sallavinera d'Anoia is a tiny municipality in the comarca of Anoia, Catalonia — population historically in the low hundreds. During the Spanish Civil War, the Republican zone experienced a near-total collapse of small-denomination coinage, driven by hoarding and metal requisitions for the war effort. Hundreds of Catalan municipalities, including the smallest, responded by issuing their own emergency paper fractional currency under a framework loosely coordinated by the Generalitat de Catalunya. This 1 Pesseta note is one such issue.

Turró catalogues over 2,000 distinct municipal issues from this period. Sallavinera's entry at #2256 reflects just how comprehensively even the most marginal administrative units participated.
