One of hundreds of municipal emergency notes printed during the Spanish Civil War, when the collapse of small-denomination coinage left towns across Catalonia and the Levant effectively unable to conduct daily commerce. Riba-roja d'Ebre, a small municipality on the Ebro in Tarragona, turned to the local press at Mora d'Ebre — barely fifteen kilometres away — rather than wait for Republican authorities to supply change. Gràfiques Launes handled several such commissions in the comarca during this period.
Turró catalogues these as Turró#2101, part of a body of wartime local paper that remains incompletely documented in terms of surviving quantities.
