| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of George Washington, first President of the United States (1789–1797), occupies the central field. The legend "ISLA DE PUERTO RICO" arcs along the upper periphery, while the face value "UNA PESETA" and the date "2009" appear along the lower periphery. The motto "EN DIOS CREEMOS" and the inscription "LIBERTAD" flank the portrait, with the issuer's mark "PRM" also present in the field. The design consciously echoes the style of the United States quarter dollar, adapted for Puerto Rican fantasy coinage. |
