A large gothic numeral '1' occupies the centre, enclosed within an oval guilloche of fine lathe-work, flanked on each side by symmetrical ornamental rosette motifs. The octagonal frame is formed by ruled parallel-line borders at the corners, giving the composition a spare but balanced appearance. |
