Malla i Miramberc is a tiny municipality in Osona, Catalunya, and like hundreds of other Catalan townships it issued its own emergency paper money during the Civil War after the Republic's central coinage supply collapsed in 1936–37. These local issues — collectively known as "paper moneda" or billets locals — were authorized under the Generalitat de Catalunya and are catalogued in the thousands. Most were printed by whatever means the ajuntament could arrange locally, which is evident in the variable quality across the series.
Authentication rests almost entirely on the municipal stamp, the only security feature applied.
