Lorca's municipal emergency notes of 1937 belong to the sprawling ecosystem of locally issued Republican wartime currency — paper produced at the municipal level to address the near-total disappearance of metallic coinage from circulation during the Spanish Civil War. The Nationalist advance through Murcia's periphery created severe shortages, and towns like Lorca were left to solve the liquidity problem themselves, with whatever printing resources were at hand.
The Gari Mon 827-B suffix indicates a distinct variety within the series, likely a signature or color variant. Survival rates for Lorca municipals are uneven — some printings circulated hard, others barely left the town hall.
