La Manresana is a small municipality in the comarca of Anoia, Catalonia. This 1 Peseta note was issued by its local authority during the Spanish Civil War, when the Republican zone faced an acute shortage of small-denomination coinage. Hundreds of Catalan towns and villages — some with populations in the dozens — issued their own emergency paper scrip under these conditions, typically authorized under the economic framework of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Grafos, the Barcelona printer responsible for this note, was collectivized under anarcho-syndicalist control during the war, as the "Col·lectivitzada" designation confirms.
