La Felguera was an industrial town in Asturias dominated by Duro Felguera, one of Spain's major iron and steel producers. During the early months of the Civil War, the Republican-aligned Comité de Abastos — a supply committee, not a bank — issued local emergency scrip because the withdrawal and hoarding of metallic coin had made small transactions nearly impossible. These committees operated with improvised authority and highly variable quality control.

The Gari Mon reference places this squarely within the documented Asturian municipal emission series, though survival rates for La Felguera issues are low; the region changed hands violently in October 1937.
