Jeresa is a small agricultural municipality in Valencia's Safor comarca, and this note is a product of the anarchist-influenced collectivization that swept rural Republican Spain in the early Civil War years. Municipal councils across the Valencian region issued their own emergency fractional currency when coin circulation collapsed in 1936–37 — the Republican government had lost effective control over local monetary supply, and villages like Jeresa filled the gap themselves.
The two-signature format — president and depositario — mirrors the accountability structure these councils were attempting to project. Whether Canet and Roselló were elected officials, collectivist appointees, or some combination is not recorded in the standard references.
