El Peral is a small municipality in Cuenca province, Castilla-La Mancha, and like hundreds of similar towns across Republican-held Spain during the Civil War, its local council issued emergency paper money when the shortage of small coinage became acute. The Consejo Municipal series from these villages was never formally catalogued with full rigor — the Gari Monetary reference for this piece remains unassigned, which reflects how thinly documented the rural Castilian emissions remain compared to those from larger Republican centers.
Most surviving examples from councils of this size were printed in tiny quantities on whatever stock was available locally, often by a regional press with no banknote experience.
