Dos Torres is a small municipality in the northern comarca of Los Pedroches, Córdoba province. During the Civil War, the Republican zone experienced an acute shortage of fractional coinage — centimos and small pesetas vanished into hoarding almost immediately after July 1936 — forcing hundreds of Spanish municipalities to issue their own emergency paper. The Consejo Municipal de Dos Torres was one of thousands of local bodies that stepped into that vacuum.
The Garicano Moneo catalogue reference is incomplete for this piece, which itself tells you something about survival rates for these hyper-local emissions.
