Campo de Criptana was one of dozens of Republican-held municipalities in Castilla-La Mancha that issued emergency fractional scrip during the Civil War after the Republic's decree of late 1936 effectively pushed small-denomination coinage out of circulation through hoarding and metal requisitions. These local issues were printed under whatever resources the town council could arrange — often a local print shop with no security printing capability whatsoever — and were valid only within the issuing municipality's boundaries.

The Gari reference number is unassigned, suggesting this piece was catalogued late or from a single known example.
