Cortes de Arenoso is a small municipality in the Castellón interior, and this note belongs to the vast category of Spanish Civil War emergency paper — locally issued fractional currency produced when the Republican government's centralized supply of small-denomination coinage collapsed after 1936. Municipal councils across Republican-held territory were authorized, loosely, to fill the gap. Many did so on whatever card stock was at hand.

The Gari Montañá catalogue remains the primary reference for these Valencian Community issues, and the #568-C designation suggests at least one variant exists within the Cortes de Arenoso emission.
