Corbins is a small agricultural village in the Lleida plain — in 1937, its municipal council was, like hundreds of others across Republican Catalonia, printing its own emergency fractional currency because the hoarding of metal coins had created an acute shortage at the retail level. The Generalitat tolerated and eventually attempted to regulate this flood of local paper, but by the time any oversight arrived, most municipalities had already issued what they needed.
Arts Gràfiques Ilerda was the workhorse printer for much of this Lleida-province municipal issue run. The notes circulated only within the issuing municipality by design, which makes survival rates unpredictable — small communities, small print runs, few reasons to preserve them after the war.
