Additional information

Cayey is a municipality in Puerto Rico's central mountain range, and this issue belongs to a series commemorating the island's 78 municipalities — a program launched by the U.S. Mint in partnership with the Puerto Rico government. The series drew direct inspiration from the 50 State Quarters program, though executed in silver and denominated in pesetas, a unit with no legal tender function in modern Puerto Rico but carrying obvious historical resonance from Spanish colonial currency.
