Beguda Alta is a small settlement in the Baix Llobregat comarca outside Barcelona. Like hundreds of Catalan municipalities during the Civil War, its agricultural syndicate issued emergency fractional currency in 1936–37 when Republican-zone copper and silver coinage vanished from circulation almost overnight — hoarded, melted, or simply lost in the chaos of mobilization. The Sindicat Agrícola's issues were intended purely for local exchange among members and nearby traders, with no formal redemption guarantee beyond community trust.

Gari Mon #251-C suggests at least variant differentiation within the Beguda Alta series — worth checking against the full Gari catalog for ink color or overprint distinctions.
