Comments

Artesa de Segre is a small municipality in the Lleida province of Catalonia, and like hundreds of other Spanish towns it issued its own emergency paper money during the Civil War after the Republic's central coin supply collapsed in 1936–37. These local issues — collectively catalogued under the broader *moneda local* category — were produced under wildly inconsistent conditions, often by local printers with no banknote experience, which is precisely why paper quality and impression fidelity vary so dramatically even within a single series.

Turró 232 is among the more obscure Lleida municipal emissions. Survival rates for small-town Catalan wartime notes are genuinely low; most circulated hard and briefly before Franco's peseta consolidation rendered them worthless.
