Alhama de Salmerón is a small municipality in Guadalajara province, and like hundreds of similar councils across Republican-held Spain, it issued its own fractional emergency currency during the Civil War after the withdrawal of coinage from circulation. The Consejo Municipal notes were purely local instruments — accepted in the village, worthless twenty kilometers away.

Papelería Lacoste in Almería handled printing for several of these municipal issues in the region. The Gari Montllor reference number being incomplete suggests this piece hadn't been fully catalogued at time of publication, which is common for the smaller Castilian issues.
