Obverse description Youthful draped bust of Alfonso XIII facing left, depicted as a child in his third portrait type as engraved by Bartolomé Maura Montaner. The king's effigy is rendered in high relief with fine hair detail. The circular legend arcs around the upper periphery, while the date appears within six-pointed stars positioned in the lower field flanking the truncation.

Reverse description The crowned quartered arms of Spain occupy the central field, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in the four quarters with the central escutcheon of the House of Bourbon. Two Pillars of Hercules flank the shield on either side, each wrapped with a banner inscribed PLUS and ULTRA respectively. The curved circular legend arcs across the upper field, with the mint assayer initials S·M· at lower left and V at lower right, and the denomination UNA PESETA inscribed in the exergue below.
