Alcudia de Carlet is a small municipality in Valencia's Ribera Alta comarca. Like hundreds of other Spanish Republican municipalities during the Civil War, the local council issued its own emergency paper currency in 1937 when small-denomination coinage effectively vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or simply not reaching rural areas. These municipal emissions were technically illegal under Republican treasury regulations but tolerated out of necessity.

The handstamp authentication is typical of the series: the council lacked printing infrastructure, so a rubber or metal stamp served as the primary anti-counterfeiting measure. At this scale of local economy, the threat of forgery was minimal.
