Albocácer is a small municipality in Castellón province, and like hundreds of Spanish towns during the Civil War, it issued its own emergency fractional currency when the Republic's central supply of small-denomination coinage collapsed under wartime strain. These local issues — collectively catalogued under the broader *billetes de necesidad* framework — were produced with whatever printing resources existed at the municipal level, which in most cases meant a local press, a rubber stamp, and paper pulled from whatever stock was available.
The square format and thick card construction are characteristic of the Castellón region issues, where durability mattered more than sophistication. Gari Mon#58-C distinguishes this variant by stamp type.
