Obverse description Conjoined busts of King William III and Queen Mary II facing right, with William's draped and laureate effigy placed before Mary's draped bust. The royal couple are portrayed in classical style, with William wearing a laurel wreath. A Latin legend encircles the effigies, appearing in either continuous or interrupted form depending on the variety. The portrait style is characteristic of the engraving work produced at the Royal Mint during the joint reign.
