| Obverse description | The obverse displays two iconic Australian fauna facing one another in the central field: an emu standing to the right on the left side, and a kangaroo rearing upright on the right side, both rendered in detailed relief against a plain field with ground vegetation beneath them. The circumferential legend reads TASMANIA arcing across the upper portion, with the date 1857 positioned in the lower exergual area. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the inner rim. |

| Reverse description | The reverse bears a purely typographic design with no pictorial elements. The merchant's name THOMAS WHITE arranged around the upper left arc and continuing with ANDSON in two lines at the centre of the field, all within a beaded border. The location WESTBURY curves around the lower arc, completing the circular legend. The open field exhibits a characteristic engine-turned or flow-line finish consistent with mid-nineteenth century colonial tradesman's token production. |
