Obverse description Plain raised border enclosing a central raised circle within which the three-line legend ONE / PENNY / TOKEN is inscribed in bold raised capital letters. The outer annular band bears the circular legend TUNSTEAD & HAPPING, with the date 1812 positioned in the lower exergual area. The design is entirely typographic with no figural elements, executed in a clean, utilitarian style typical of early nineteenth-century British provincial copper tokens.
