Reverse description Long cross pattée extending to the beaded inner circle, dividing the reverse field into four quadrants, each containing three pellets arranged in a triangular grouping, for a total of twelve pellets. This standard long-cross-and-pellets design was employed on English pennies to facilitate halving and quartering of the coin in circulation. A mascle punctuation mark appears within the legend, alongside a rosette, consistent with the Rosette-mascle issue. The reverse legend reads VILLA CALISIE, identifying the Calais mint, in uncial Latin lettering.
