Obverse description Facing crowned bust of King Henry III rendered in the bold, schematic style characteristic of mid-13th century English hammered coinage. The king's effigy is depicted full-face, wearing a beaded crown with prominent central fleur, flanked by stylised hair with curling locks falling to each side. The face is rendered with large almond-shaped eyes, a broad nose, and a small mouth, surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The royal legend encircles the design in Latin capital letters within the outer field.
