Reverse description The central field bears the Coat of Arms of New South Wales, depicting a quartered shield with a lion passant in the first quarter, a sailing ship in the second, a sheaf of wheat (or ox) in the third, and an anchor in the fourth, surmounted by a radiant rising sun above the shield. The shield is supported on the dexter by an emu and on the sinister by a kangaroo, both standing on a scrolled cartouche bearing the motto ADVANCE AUSTRALIA. The legend PEACE & PLENTY arcs around the upper periphery, and the date 1857 appears in the lower field, all enclosed within a beaded border.
