| Obverse description | Crowned effigy of King George VI facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown, engraved by Percy Metcalfe. The portrait is the large bare-neck bust type, rendered in fine relief with careful attention to facial detail and crown ornamentation. The engraver's initials 'PM' appear discreetly below the truncation. The circular legend reads GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA, separated by a raised dot at the base, running along the inner border. A beaded outer border frames the entire design. |
