Obverse description Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George V, engraved by Bertram Mackennal, occupies the centre of the square flan with rounded corners. The king is depicted in a restrained, classically modelled bust, wearing a suit collar visible at the truncation. The circular legend reads GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX around the upper and lateral fields, with the date 1920 appearing in the lower field below the bust, flanked by small decorative stops. A raised inner border frames the design, following the square format of the planchet.
