Obverse description A centrally placed circular hole dominates the field, with an imperial crown rendered in relief positioned at the top above the aperture. The circular legend GEORGE·V·KING·EMPEROR runs around the circumference in bold sans-serif capital letters, separated by raised dots. A fine toothed or reeded border frames the entire obverse. The design is characteristically spare, relying on the crown and titular inscription rather than a royal effigy.

Reverse description The central round hole is surrounded by a closely set beaded ring, with the four digits of the date split on either side of the aperture — two digits to the left and two to the right — in large, bold numerals. The issuer name FIJI arcs across the upper field in prominent capital letters, while the denomination PENNY curves along the lower field. A toothed border encircles the entire reverse, consistent in style with the obverse.
