| Obverse description | A seated female allegorical figure, representing Justice or Commerce, occupies the central field, facing left and holding a balance scale in her left hand while her right arm is extended. She is seated on a rocky plinth with additional symbolic attributes at her feet. The legend NEW ZEALAND arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1858 prominently displayed in the lower exergue. The design is contained within a beaded border. The style is typical of mid-nineteenth century British token engraving as produced by the Taylor workshop. |

| Reverse description | The reverse bears a purely typographic design arranged in concentric registers within a beaded border. The central field displays the two-line inscription MANCHESTER HOUSE in bold raised lettering. Surrounding this central panel, a circular legend reads T. S. FORSAITH. WHOLESALE & RETAIL DRAPER. AUCKLAND, distributed around the periphery. The overall layout is characteristic of mid-Victorian trade token reverses produced by W.J. Taylor of London, with clean, well-struck lettering throughout. |
