Obverse description Central device depicting three crowns arranged in a triangular formation, a heraldic symbol associated with the Yorkist coinage struck at Dublin under Edward IV. The crowns are rendered in the crude, flat style typical of Irish hammered pennies of this period. The surrounding legend is largely illegible due to the worn and irregular flan, though traces of a Gothic script inscription may be discerned near the rim. The flan is noticeably uneven with ragged edges characteristic of hand-cut hammered coinage. The overall relief is low and the design shows significant wear consistent with circulation use.
