Reverse description A bold voided long cross extends to the coin's edge, dividing the reverse field into four quarters, each containing a trefoil of pellets — a standard arrangement for English hammered pennies of this period. A quatrefoil ornament is placed at the central intersection of the cross, serving as a privy mark associated with the York mint issue. The legends are struck in uncial Latin script around the periphery, reading as the mint city name. The hammered flan is characteristically irregular, and the die work reflects the regional York mint style of the early 1480s.
