Obverse description Facing crowned royal bust of Edward I with a stylised trefoil of pellets positioned below the chin, all set within a beaded triangle. The king's crown features prominent fleurs-de-lis or decorative points typical of the period. The royal legend is distributed across three sections within the angles of the beaded triangle, rendered in Latin, identifying the king as Edward, King of England and Lord of Ireland.
