Obverse description A detailed architectural view of the Old Dundee Town House, a prominent building featuring a tall steeple, occupies the central field. The date 17-97 is divided by the building's spire, flanked by the denomination PENNY. The legend TOWN HOUSE FOUNDED 1732 appears in the exergue below the structure, while DUNDEE arcs above in the upper legend. The engraving is rendered in fine stipple and line work characteristic of late eighteenth-century provincial token craftsmanship.
