| Obverse description | Central device consisting of a downward-pointing triangle enclosing what appear to be rudimentary letter forms or monogram, possibly an early rendering of a 'V' with additional internal markings, all struck on a thin, irregularly shaped flan with a rough, uneven surface characteristic of medieval hammered coinage. Small pellets or bosses are visible to the left of the triangle in the field. The design is crudely executed, reflecting the primitive striking techniques of 13th-century Gotlandic bracteate-related coinage. |
