| Obverse description | A roughly executed cross occupies the central field of this crudely hammered bracteate-style penning, its arms extending nearly to the irregular flan edge. Surrounding the cross are scattered letter-like symbols, buckle motifs, and pellet dots arranged loosely in the field, characteristic of the Visby municipal coinage of the mid-thirteenth century. The design elements are deeply struck but unevenly distributed across the flan, reflecting the primitive die-cutting and striking techniques of the period. The overall composition is rendered in a bold, archaic style typical of Baltic regional coinage of this era. |
