| Obverse description | The obverse bears the Portuguese Republican coat of arms at center, surrounded by a circular legend. The legend reads '* REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA * MACAU *' with the date of issue below the coat of arms. Two known varieties exist distinguished by the position of the stars relative to the lower towers of the coat of arms: the 'High stars' variety places the two bottom stars above the level of the lower towers, with the star following 'PORTUGUESA' positioned to the upper right of the arms, while the 'Low stars' variety has the stars at or below the height of the towers, with that same star positioned directly to the right of the arms. All lettering is in Latin script. |
