Obverse description Draped bust of King José I facing right, rendered in a crude hammered style characteristic of the Goa mint. The hair is depicted in loose curls falling to the shoulder, with a laurel wreath or diadem suggested by the engraving. The date appears in the left field alongside the bust. The legend PARDAO is inscribed to the right of the effigy, with lettering in a rough but legible style consistent with colonial Indian minting practice.
