| Additional information |
Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah reigned under effective British-backed regency for much of this issue's production window, with the Rana prime ministers holding actual governing power throughout. The Nepal Government Mint operated with considerable independence from British Indian monetary influence during this period, deliberately maintaining a distinct copper coinage rather than assimilating to the anna system used across the border.
