Obverse description Crudely hammered copper flan bearing a central Arabic legend disposed across the field in characteristic Sultanate calligraphic style. The inscription, reading 'Ala al-Dunya wa al-Din', is struck in a bold, somewhat irregular hand typical of provincial Madurai Sultanate coinage. The surrounding field is undecorated, and the coin's irregular flan edges reflect the primitive minting technique of the period. Surfaces display extensive green and brown patination consistent with long burial.
